A Bit About Us

Still Good Food is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO Charity Number: 1193073) working to help reduce the huge amounts of food that are thrown away every day by redistributing surplus food through our shops on a 'pay as you feel' donation basis (minimum donation £3).

We accept donations from supermarkets, local independent retailers, local producers and distributors, farmers and growers, and even from members of the public. In fact, from anyone who might otherwise be throwing away food that is still good to eat.

By doing this, not only do we reduce the amount of food that is wasted, but we also provide good, nutritional, low cost food to our community.  We also try to help educate people about the difference between the ‘Best Before Date’ and the 'Use By Date' helping them be better informed and to make better decisions about what food is still good to eat.

We always comply with guidance from the Food Standards Agency regarding food safety.

Still Good Food is a member of FareShare, Neighbourly and Caboodle and every week we pick up fresh produce from  local supermarkets (including Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys, Aldi, M&S and ASDA) and from a number of other local businesses,  and redistribute it through our shops. We also have links with a number of local farms and orchards and our Gleaning Project is rescuing more unharvested produce every year.

We often open our shops to a queue of people passionate about reducing food waste and we have also become a life-line to many individuals and families in the area who are struggling to pay their household bills and appreciate being able to access good food at low cost.

As long as there is surplus food being wasted we aim to save it and re-direct it to feeding people.
