What we do

The aim of Still Good Food is to rescue surplus food and re-distribute it through our shops in Bury St Edmunds and Great Barton.

Our shops are open to the general public, anyone can come and shop at Still Good Food and every time you shop with us you save good food from being thrown away.

Shopping with us helped to save over 30 tonnes of food in the last year.  That’s the same as 60,000 meals!

We would ask all our customers to be mindful of how many items you take, especially if you are fortunate enough to be near the front of the queue and there are other people waiting; they would like to have a good choice of items too.

Thank you very much for your continued support.

Coronavirus update

Following the relaxing of Coronavirus restrictions we would still ask that all customers and volunteers continue to follow these guidelines to help ensure everyone's continued safety:

  • We request that all customers and volunteers wear a face covering when they are in the shop, if at all possible.

  • Only one customer or volunteer is allowed in the shop at a time.

  • Customers are asked to purchase and use their own Still Good Food shopping bag.  These are available at the shop for a donation of £1.  Please bring it back with you every time you shop.

  • Customers are asked to comply with social distancing guidelines whilst queuing and entering/exiting the shop.

  • Customers are asked to please use the hand sanitizer when entering the shop.

Thank you

Still Good Food Shopping Bags

We have our very own Still Good Food jute shopping bags.

This initiative is to help ensure a more even distribution of our food to all our customers and we ask for all users of the shop to use these bags.

We ask for a donation of £1 for the bags and once you have one please bring it with you every time you shop with us.

Thank you

Education on Food Waste

What you can do to help save food from being thrown away

We can all do more to help reduce food waste. The more we understand about labels and what food should smell and look like, especially after the best before date on the packaging, the better we will be able to make decisions on what we can still safely use and what really is ready to go in the bin.
It all comes down to education.
